NBA Suspends Season After Basketball Player Tests Positive For Coronavirus

A basketball player has tested positive for the Coronavirus and NBA suspended its season as a precautionary measure after finding out that a player on the Utah Jazz preliminary is now with the virus.

According to NBA, the result came right before the tip-off of Wednesday’s game between the Jazz and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The league however confirmed that the player was not in the arena and the game was suspended immediately.
The player remains a mystery although some media outlets identified him as Rudy Gobert. But Utah Jazz and the NBA are yet to reveal who the player is.

After the player had tested negative for the flu, strep throat and an upper respiratory infection a test had been carried out on Coronavirus just for precautions.

“The individual’s symptoms diminished over the course of today, however, in a precautionary measure, and in consultation and cooperation with NBA medical staff and Oklahoma health officials, the decision was made to test for COVID-19.” Utah Jazz revealed.

All play was suspended at the end of the of the game between the Dallas Mavericks and Denver Nuggets to avoid spreading the disease.

“This is crazy. This can’t be true.” Mark Cuban, the owner of Mavericks said when he heard the news at the game.
“I mean, it’s not within the realm of possibilities.

This seems more like out of [a] movie than reality,” he told the network.
“It’s really not about basketball or money, if this thing is just exploding to the point where all of a sudden players and others have had it, you think about your family. Now, it’s just more personal.” He added.

This news was announced on the same day that NCAA president ,Mark Emmert made a statement on banning college basketball fans at the upcoming men’s and women’s Division I tournaments.

“This decision is in the best interest of public health, including that of coaches, administrators, fans and, most importantly, our student-athletes.”

The cases of the disease is now high in US and sports league would either ban spectators or cancel games.
