The kimono controversy has made Kim Kardashian to finally speak out regarding her new Kimono Shapewear outfit. Kim made it very clear that her new shapewear “Kimono” is not in any way trying to replace the Japanese cultural wear.
Kim further stated that she’ll not in any way design kimono to resemble or dishonor the Japanese kimono dress.
“I understand and have a deep respect for the significance of the kimono in Japanese culture,” Ms. Kardashian West said.
The Mayor of Kyoto sent a letter to Kim on Friday informing her to try another name for her brand, he also invited her to Kyoto to have a feel of how kimono is won by the Japanese.
Kyoto urged Kim Kardashian to find a way to rebrand her new shapewear from “Kimono” to something else. According to the Japanese mayor, he said that “Kimono is traditional wear which represents the Japanese culture”
“Kimono is a traditional ethnic dress fostered in our rich nature and history with our predecessors’ tireless endeavors and studies, and it is a culture that has been cherished and passed down with care in our living,”
He also went further to tell Kim about kimono culture’s current registration plan with UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
Ever since the kimono controversy, Kim Kardashian has received a lot of backlash from the social media users who misunderstood her concept on the new shapewear.
From our investigation, Kimono Lash also attached the word “Kimono”. However, it seems like the Mayor of Kyoto is more concerned about Kim Kardashian case because her products deal with kimono wears.
Kimo is also attached to other bigger brands which include, Komono Sunglasses, Kimono Restaurant.
Kim Kardashian, however, said that her Kimono Shapewear logo is to be designed by her husband, Kanye West.
